OLYMPIC BODIES, PAGE 55 – 57
DORINE
That’s why it’s a good idea to go to the FBI. Indeed.
Or maybe the CIA.
ANDREA
I’ll talk to Gunnar. If he’s OK with it, we’ll go.
The 3 of us.
Hesitantly, they give a
high-five.
INT. UTAH OLYMPIC OVAL OFFICE
–– DAY
Dorine, Andrea and
Gunnar sit at the desk, opposite a man and a woman in suits, CIA AGENTS GLENN
MORRIS and IRENE SHAWN. On the desk lies a newspaper, showing the photo of
Gunnar and the Chinese man in the hotel suite, embracing, naked.
AGENT MORRIS
Your story is very interesting to us. We have been
following this Penguin – Mr. Pei Wang – for quite some time. He controls the
largest part of the Chinese import and export of drugs. Ruthless, according to
his reputation. But difficult to catch him. He never leaves China, and is
protected – we know for sure – by Chinese police and politicians.
As for the disappearance and presumed murder of the
French skater Leroux, we have only very strong suspicions.
You also mentioned Mr. Zhao Luiquo – Luigi – but as
far as we know he has nothing to do with all of this. Maybe in the past, but
more recently he seems clean. There are no obscure matters associated with his
multinational, Lingshan Dragon. Except maybe for things like child
labor, stuff like that. Not uncommon in those regions.
GUNNAR
That’s very nice, but what are you gonna do about this?
He angrily taps with his
finger on the photo in the newspaper.
I mean, they blackmail us. They’ve put my pictures
on the internet. What’s next? They come to shoot us, or kidnap us?
AGENT SHAWN
We have increased security measures, Mr. Brenz. For
you too, Miss Karlsson. We are aware that you are living together, and we can
offer you a fully equipped and protected safehouse for the time being. Not far
from the city, 24/7 security. From there you can continue your life as normal.
Unfortunately we cannot do much about the pictures
that have been published. You know how it goes: once it’s on the internet,
nobody can ever remove it completely. I’m afraid you’ll have to learn to live
with it. But with a body like yours you shouldn’t have to feel ashamed...
Gunnar crumbles up the
newspaper and walks away. Dorine and Andrea look at each other. Agent Shawn
looks into the camera with a surprised, blunt look on her face.
EXT. OUTSIDE UTAH OLYMPIC OVAL
–– DAY
Dorine, Andrea and
Gunnar step outside. Several journalists were waiting for them (not Bart).
ANDREA
I really hate paparazzi.
They walk towards the
journalists arm in arm. Gunnar in the middle. One of the journalists pushes a
microphone under Gunnar's nose.
JOURNALIST
Mr. Brenz. We all have seen the photos from
Beijing. Can you comment on them?
Andrea pulls the
microphone towards her. She looks straight into the camera.
ZOOM IN ON ANDREA
ANDREA (angrily)
Why is this actually made into a scandal? Because
it was a homosexual contact? Don't you see how hypocritical that is? You don’t
have any self-respect? Get a life! All of you!
They push the
journalists aside, and walk away.
DORINE (softly)
Well spoken, girl.
INT. BEIJING OLYMPIC ICE RINK
–– DAY
Luigi, wearing a shiny
colored skating suit and brand new competition skates, is training fanatically.
He receives instructions from a female Russian trainer, LYUBOV (45).
LYUBOV (in English, heavy Russian accent)
Sit low! Knees in 90 degree angle! Skate straight,
you cover too much surface. You’re not a Zamboni!
LUIGI (panting)
Yes, but... Lemme try... Gimme a break...
LYUBOV (in Russian)
No break, lazy bastard. Wasting my time on this fucking billionaire.
Goddammit!
LYUBOV (in English)
OK, fine. Two more laps. Knees, angle! That’s
better. Now stay low.
Luigi starts another
lap, doing his very best to follow her instructions.
LYUBOV (in Russian)
For 2000 baksov per day I will even polish his skates and lick off the
ice.
INT. BEIJING OLYMPIC ICE RINK
–– A FEW MINUTES LATER
Luigi stops in front of
Lyubov, panting heavily. He leans over the boarding and spits on the ground.
